Orlaf Skull-Splitter, known as Orlaf the Barbarian, suffered from wanderlust.

When his clan elders and lord swore their allegiance to the Northern Alliance, the young man left his homelands on the coasts of the Frozen Sea and headed south through the Ogre Lands to make his living as a sell-sword, hiring his skills out to the highest bidder.

About

Tremendously strong and skilled with blade and fist, his travels took him through the lands of Basilea to the City of the Golden Horn where he established himself as the go-to professional for wealthy merchants and nobility who lacked the physicality to solve their own problems.

His reputation was such that he was hired as one of a party to tackle the now infamous necromancer Mortibris, which only served to inflate his reputation and ego. City life agreed with him too much and standards slipped. A life of easy comforts, rich foods and vice soon took their toll and life quickly spiralled out of control. A dishevelled, broken wretch, he was found in the gutter by a traveller from the north. The softly spoken man fixed him with kind, but piercing and firm blue eyes. He was a herald he said, and the north needed their son to return for great work that was to come. It was time to return home.

At the gates of Chill, a lean, hungry and wiser Orlaf SkullSplitter sought an audience with the prince he had heard so much about. Orlaf, skjoldcarl of Talannar, has returned to his people. Woe betide any who seek their harm.

Dungeon Saga: The Return of Valandor

Ur-Elohi Jullius and Samacris advised the Council of Pannithor of Mortibris survival and the continued threat he posed. They also advised about Valandor's true identity being a Shining One and that Orlaf Skull-Splitter, Danor, Madriga Starrekin, and Rordin must reform as a group and find artefact in which the contained the last essence of Valandor, in hopes it can be freed and fight along side the group against Mortibris and Ba'el (which Mortibris was attempting to summon). The group agreed to help and enter the ruins of Du’Lan Var.

The heroes quickly came across Mortibris' undead forces as they progressed which they easily dispatched, but unexpectedly they came face to face with Ba'el. They fought Ba'el to point of exhaustion when he suddenly vanished. The group quickly moved on further into the ruins. Using the gem that was given to Danor by Jullius, they managed to find the artefact, Starmetal Amulet which contained the Spirit of Valandor. Orlaf, Danor, Madriga Starrekin, and Rordin continued on battling through the undead with the help of the Spirit of Valandor towards Mortibris and Ba'el.

Eventually the Spirit of Valandor and Ba'el faced off, ending with Valandor seemingly the victor however the mortal shell of Valandor fell to the ground spent. With Ba'el defeated, the group continued on to face Mortibris. The group confronted Mortibris after taking on the last of his undead forces and as the final blow against Mortibris was inflicted, his body turned to ash and disolved. Believe the threat to be defeated, they group left Dul'Lan Var and advised the council on the outcome, unaware of Mortibris and Ba'el's survival.

3849

Destiny of Kings

In 3849, Orlaf along with Danor the Basilean army met up with Rordin and Madriga Starrekin's forces to attempt to stop the Forces of the Abyss.

Ultimately, Mortibris would open the entrance to the Abyss, pouring demonic legions and undead creatures alike into the mortal realm. Danor uses the Starmetal Amulet to summon the Spirit of Valandor to return one last time to face off against this potential apocalypse and to stop Ba’el who also had came through.

With legions of Elohim at his side and a grand alliance of Dwarves, Elves and Basileans (with the assistance of Orlaf and Danor) formed, they faced off against a huge horde of Abyssals and Undead led by Valandor's other half, Ba'el. The forces of good were eventually pushed back and hordes of the Abyss continued to arrive through the portals. Resulting into the events of the Edge of the Abyss.

3865

Halpi's Rift

in 3865, Orlaf played a pivotal role in the Defence of Chill. Once the battle and threat was over, he felt like his age had caught up with him and asked permission from Talannar Icekin to retire. This was granted, despite his reluctance and the great barbarian would retire from the front lines.




3870

By 3870, Orlaf had joined the Witan and was leading household protection for the White Pylon which housed the Shining One Azuon, also known as The Oracle. He was living with his bride-wife Brigga.

He is married to Brigga and has 10 children, including his youngest Madriga Skull-Splitter
