Honor's Price is an upcoming novel in the Tales of Pannithor series, written by Mike Rossi.

It covers the Daamuz Clan recapture of Llyngr Cadw

About

It’s been ten years since the ancestral lands of the Free Dwarf clans were conquered by the denizens of the Abyss.  Forced to take refuge in King Golloch’s great dwarven empire, the surviving free dwarves have scraped by as second class citizens among their imperial brethren.  Reduced to refugees, the Free Dwarves chaff under Golloch’s authoritarian rule, and are determined to one day reclaim their homes from the Abyssal Dwarves.

Dinnidek, the young leader of the remnants of Clan Daamuz, fed up with the lies of Golloch’s court, hatches a plan to bring his people out of exile and retake their clan hold.  With the help of his sister Diessa (the clan Stone Priest), his brother Daerun, and the other clan thanes, Dinnidek will lead his people across the High Sea of Bari, back to a land filled with nightmares.  The journey will test the clan’s very existence, but honor demands that they risk it all for the clan’s very survival.

Plot

3854

In 3854, while Lord Drohzon was arranging the final defence of Llyngyr Cadw, he ordered Rhyss to take his daughther Diessa, youngest son Daerun and oldest son Dinnidek along with his wife Brohna to Rhyn Dufaris during the final days of the defence of Llyngyr Cadw. Drohzon stayed behind.

Twenty days later, after defending Llyngyr Cadw for as long as they could, Lord Drohzon Daamuz retreated with the remaining defenders through an escape tunnel along with their stone priest Nygon. Nygon summoned earth elementals to collapse the watchtower next to the tunnel they escaped from, blocking their escape from anyone following. Lord Drohzon Daamuz gave one last look with tears in his eyes at the Red Mountain, his ancestal home.

Meanwhile, the evacuated Daamuz Clan while traveling down The Ironway, south of Llyngyr Cadw, to get to Rhyn Dufaris, were caught by abyssals who were following them. Diessa Daamuz and her mother Brohna Daamuz attempted to buy time for the escaping clan by summoning earth elementals. Despite managing to kill the chasing Slave Orcs, they became overwhelmed by a horde of Grotesques. As a last resort, Broha brought down the cliff walls around her, stopping the Grotesques however killing her in the brocess. Diessa was protected by a earth elemental saving her. Diessa became Daamuz Clan's stone priest between and spirital guide after Brohna's death.

Eventually the clan made it to Rhyn Dufaris and crossed into Golloch's Empire to settle along the shores of High Sea of Bari

3865

The Plan

In 3865, Dinnidek Daamuz, who was now Lord of the surviving Clan Daamuz members who left to Rhyn Dufaris, was once again listening to the demands of an envoy from the Gollach Empire demanding more taxes and food. With the help of his personal bodyguard, Tordek, the envoy made it clear that the clan was to give up a fifth of their harvested food despite refusing begin the campaign to take back Halpi, seemingly giving a false promise to begin the campaign next year and left. Frustrating Dinnidek.

A short while later, at the Ale House, Daerun Daamuz and Felwyr were drinking during their lunch break along with a few other members of their clan, having a good laugh in the process. Dinnidek and Tordek arrived, offering the next round of ale. Tordek told Daerun what happened with the envoy, pointing out the false promises and Dinnidek response which revealed that Daerun had won their bet, seemingly predicting the envoy messaging. This reaffirmed their plan to return to take Llyngyr Cadw, with the help of Clan Helgwin who have held out in Crafanc for the last 10 years. With the information provided by Rhyss and the aid promised by Anfynn Helgwin, the plan was to relocate the whole of Clan Daamuz to the island of Innyshwylt to avoid backlash from the Golloch Empire (who forbidded any attempt to retake Halpi) then land on the Dewbrock Plain to establish a beachhead to join up with the Clan Helgwin forces. The only problem was the lack of support from their sister, Diessa, who had become the clan's stone priest which is the clans spiritual leader since the passing of thier mother, Brohna, which they needed before beginning their plan of attack.

Diessa Daamuz was busy repairing recently damaged holds from a recent storm with Veit, the Daamaz Clan's Master Engineer, and summoned earth elementals including Joro. After working until the dinner bell, Veit snapped her out of her trance and viewed their work of the newly built longhouse. Her brother, Dinnidek, approached shortly after complimenting them both along with Joro and asked to speak to Diessa alone to discuss some clan matters. Veit took his leave and the siblings walked to the nearby wood line. Dinnidek told Diessa about the meeting with the envoy including the demands requested of them. Diessa hoped that Dinnidek would rethink his plan, however instead they began to argue. Eventually, Diessa agreed to support Dinnidek as long as he promised that he didn't put his personal honor and pride above the clan.
