Captain Charn Ferrus was a captain of the Pious in the Basilean Navy
Charn Ferrus is one of the main protagonists in the novel 'Pious'.
Biography
Early Years
Charn Ferrus was educated in interpreting signal flags as a boy at the age of ten. Charn joined the Basilean Navy as a boy sailor before rising through the ranks as a midshipman and then lieutenant.
Charn is a no-nonsense man and strict-disciplinarian, believing that publicly and openly correcting his subordinates - often sarcastically or angrily - is preferable to acting as a mentor. Whilst unpopular with his officers, he nonetheless is known by his own superiors as a captain who gets the job done.
Having prioritised his career throughout his life and volunteered for sea-going drafts over shoreside jobs, he is a highly experienced captain with a far greater professional knowledge of both seamanship and war fighting when compared to younger captains, although this has come at the cost of his marriage
Charn serverd on the Faithful as a Lieuteant and eventually got promoted to captain at the age of thirty-one.
His pace of advancement was mediocre, but nonetheless he was selected for duties as a warship captain. He has served on Elohi-class vessels for fours years including on the Devout and was eventually given command of the Batch Two Elohi-Class Frigate 'Pious'.
Lt. Gregori Corbes is the one of the only people he genuinely trusted and respected. Captain Charn Ferrus was captaining the Pious in 3865 while in the Northern Infant Sea.

Capt, Charn Ferrus scowled Lieuteant Ganto after pointing out signal flags of three sloops in distress while the captain was looking through his looking glass at them. It was fairly obvious observation to the captain and it didnt need to be said.
After ordering Thaddeus Just to begin adjusting course towards the ships, he continues to montior the distant sloops in order to figure out more. He noticed a fourth ship pursing them the distressed vessels and 'beat to quarters' was called to prepare for battle.He met Lieutenant Gregori Corbes, Capt. Charn Ferrus and Lieutenant Jaymes Ellias to discuss the situation.
Lt. Corbes managed to identify that the chasing ship is an Orc Vessel and Capt. Charn Feerus started issuing orders. Lt. Gregori was to stay on quarterdeck, Lt. Ellias to take charge of the upper deck, Lt. Ganto to take charge of the upper deck for’ard and Mister Just to clear for action. Approaching closer he identified the two Orc ships being an Orc Smasher and an Orc Blood Runner. He ordered Lt. Corbes to take charge of the fo’c’sle cannons and for Thaddeus Just to get the ship to pull up on the Orc Smasher.
As Charn continued to witness the battle between the Sloops and the Orc Vessels, noting the Sloops fighting bravely, the Pious opened fire with Lt. Corbes firing at the at the very top of a wave,

Post-Death
Captain Ferrus' body was taken back to port for a proper burial
