Biography

History

Early Years

Jaymes Ellisas joined the Basilean navy as a boy sailor. Being from an affluent family with a father with a professional trade, he was quickly selected to become a Midshipman. As a young officer he was solely career driven with aspirations of promotion to the Admiralty in his later career. However, he was then selected for employment in the sloop force employed on coast guard duties along the south coast, west of the capital.

With the only action on his patrols being made up of the occasional rescue of ships and sailors in distress, and the interception of smugglers, Jaymes' dreams of high ranks were slowly replaced with an appreciation of the peace and tranquility of Basilea's south coast, and a safe but rewarding job within the close-knit community of sloop crews. He passed his lieutenants exam and was shortly after sent to the capital, where he acted in an ill-suited advisory role to naval ship design contractors, on warship types he had never served upon.

Assigned to the Pious

After two years of a desk job, he was sent to Keretia to join Thatraskos' frigate force. He was assigned to the Hegemon's Warship 'Pious', a batch-two Elohi-class frigate, under the command of Captain Charn Ferrus. His disillusionment in his naval career, compounded by the boredom of his desk job in the capital and the harsh treatment of the sardonic Captain Ferrus, resulted in him submitting his notice to resign his commission. Jaymes planned to return to the capital to join a shipping company set up by a friend.

In the Spring of 3865, Jaymes was Second Lieutenant aboard the Elohi-class ship Pious and assigned as night watch.

Charn Ferrus and Lieutenant Walt Ganto to discuss the situation.

Lt. Gregori took at a look through the spyglass towards the distant ship chasing the three Sloops. He quickly identified that it was an Orc ship and Capt. Charn Feerus started issuing orders. Lt. Gregori was to stay on quarterdeck, Jaymes to take charge of the upper deck, Lt. Ganto to take charge of the upper deck for’ard and Mister Just to clear for action.

Jaymes waited in antipation for the battle on the upper deck, between the lines of cannons secured to both sides of the frigate with cannons locked and loaded. Midshipman Francis Turnio was assigned as the messager to convey Cpt. Freeus orders, encouraging him to not be as timid when delivering them as Jaymes adjusted to the Starboard side.
