First-mate X'And is a Salamander who served onboard the Martolian Queen under Captain Caithlin Viconti.
Biography
Early Years
Setting sail in 3839, he now has over 20 years of sailing experience. X'and is fairly secretive about his past, but has hinted towards a history as a salamander corsair. At some point before the events of Pious, X'and was shipwrecked and rescued by the crew of the Martolian Queen; knowing that it would have been easier and safer for the trading vessel to carry on their course, X'and instead volunteered to remain onboard as a crew member out of a sense of loyalty to her captain. With years of experience, he rapidly ascended the ranks to become the ship's First Mate.
Pious (novel)
X'and was aboard the Martolian Queen during the events of Pious. When the Martolian Queen was re-roled from a trading vessel into a ship of war, X'and's previous experience propelled him to the fore in action as part of the new crew.
Post-Pious Events
X'And left the Martolian Queen to do a ritrual pilgrimage back to The Three Kings. He is due to return in the sequel to Pious, Through Thick and Thin, due for release in late 2024.
