Placoderms are the toughest of the Neriticans.

About

Being large and strong, and plated in thick scales that are almost impervious to blades, they are the toughest of the Neriticans. Predatory and bloodthirsty, the placoderms view all lesser forms of life as theirs to hunt.

Where their naiad cousins are swift and graceful, placoderms are steadfast and hardy. Organised into warrior guilds, patrolling relentlessly, always drilled, protecting the Trident Realm from any threat, whenever the call comes.

They fight in solid formations, using tridents and pikes to keep the foe at arm's length, while stabbing at them, those that break through their lines are met with another wave of placoderm warriors, armed with huge axes of stone and shell to crush even the strongest foe.

Placoderms were introduced as a unit in 2.1 - Uncharted Empires 2nd Edition Rulebook for the Trident Realms which has continued into 3rd Edition.

Second Edition Biography

Heavily armoured fshmen warriors armed with tridents, pikes and tough, natural scale mail. These warriors often form the hard core of the Netitican battle lines.
