Argun's Luck is a short story that was released during the road to Kings of War – 4th Edition Rulebook about Orcs entering the Sylvan Kin lands.
Biography
3671
In 3671, Orcs Argun, Jarl and Meathead were gambling and playing dice together. One of the dice fell to the ground and an Orcling perched on Argun's shoulder, Spittle climbed down to retrive it. Jarl suggested that Argun's luck had run out. Spittle climbed back up and Argun grabbed Spittle, forcing it to spit out the dice it held in its mouth. It was a six and Argun reminded them that “I always bloody win”.
Argun who also went by Argun the Facesplitter, was a Krudger leading a band of Orcs. Argun’s reputation was only enhanced by victories at Harvon’s Pass and The Bickervale however this changed at Yurdhaven Cross where his warband was defeated by a force of Humans and Elves. Only about twenty or so Orcs survived to follow Argun into the Forest of Huur, managing to killed their pursuers in the process. As they travelled through the Forest of Huur they came across some human adventurers who they killed with the exception of one who they obtained information from. The Orcs found out that they were treasure hunters and following a map they had discovered in a library in Yolkston.
The next day, Argun and his warband continued towards the ancient hideout described on the map where they would set up their base of operations. Over the year as they were based here, they lost a few to various traps and surprises that the area had to offer however in the first few months at least four different groups of adventures had found the caves only to met their demise at the hands of Argun and his warband. Argun would also terrorise villages within a week distance of their base along with spreading rumours of the cave’s treasures to lure in more opportunists and mercenaries, however the Orcs themselves did not find any hidden treasure at the hideout they had taken over. All that lay at the centre was a large cavernous hollow. From the narrow opening into the chamber, they could see thick roots dropping out of the gloom into a pool in the floor. The orcs had avoided the place and if anyone wandered too close, they suddenly found themselves back at the cavern entrance again with no recollection of how they got there.
A Goblin within the warband, Rikks, had thought it amusing to hurl night-soil in to the pool as a dare. Getting as close as he comfortably could he succeeded in hitting the target with some, if not all, his ammunition. Since then, the goblins had spent any spare time they had by entertaining themselves playing ‘crap-splash’ at the pool.
One day Meathead came to Argun and Jarl to tell them that their Goblin scout Tinker had returned severely wounded and the other Goblins Gobban and Rikks have been killed. Tinker managed to say "Elves. Lots". Argun ordered the warband to prepare with Jurk to prepare the traps and ordered Brekkun to lure them in. Argun asked if Jarl wanted first pickings which he accepted.
