Ulpgar Goblin-Speaker

Ulpgar Goblin-Speaker, also known as Ulpgar the Mad, is an Orc of the Blood Knife Tribe.

Biography

Ulpgar claimed that Garkan the Black always talked to him however the other orcs of the Bloody Knife Tribe gave him a wide berth which was common with Orcs that have some magic ability.

In reality, Ulpgar has had very little contact with Garkan.

His prophecies had come to nothing, his battle spells more often than not fizzled into nothingness or backfired on his own warriors. Worse, he was scrawny and pallid, even for a Godspeaker. Over time, the wariness of the other orcs had slowly given way to open contempt. They had taken to calling him Ulpgar Goblin-Speaker. His life had become lowly and pitiable. But all that changed with the opening of the Nexus.

As the other orcs gaped in wonder at the strange light on the distant horizon, Ulpgar saw a vision of gigantic green-skinned warriors waging war in the heavens. For an instant, it was not a vision at all – Ulpgar felt like he had stepped across the veil, and was watching the great warlords of the past battle for the honour of serving beside Garkan.

Then, as one, they had turned to him, and spoke, and the words overwhelmed him. Ulpgar flipped back to reality at once, screaming in agony. A blast of green energy spewed from his mouth, hacking down a swathe of the Rhovan Forest, blasting through the nearby foothills, and at last tearing into Mount Rhudaer of the Knifepeaks, shearing the peak from the mountain before Ulpgar finally succumbed and fainted. He did not truly know what happened next. When he awoke, all the orcs of the tribe bowed before him in fear and awe.

When Ulpgar next spoke, it was in a voice unlike his own. He told the orcs that the great war was about to begin in the Halpi Mountains, and that this was the opportunity to join the great warlords of the past. The orcs must rally to the mountains and fight in Garkan’s name. Ulpgar and his tribe would become the chosen few, ready to battle alongside Garkan himself when the time came!
