Mage Song is a short story that was released during the road to Kings of War – 4th Edition Rulebook about Broadleaf who is an Elven from the Elves.

About

In 3870, a force of Elves were fighting back a group of goblins led by Broadleaf. After defeating the recent attack, Broadleaf ordered to set up camp and as soon as his tent was pitched he would retire and commune with the "Mage". Broadleaf needed to find out where the goblin army was encamped and just how many there were.

As they were setting up camp, the Goblins returned and charged at the force of Elves. Despite the archers taking out a large number of Goblins, they did not retreat this time as it seemed like they were running in fear away from something and instead continued to charge right into the elves which proved fatal for the Goblins. The attack was then continued by strange large cats, possibly Lionsnarls, which attacked the Kindred Tallspears line that had formed. This broke the Elves and Broadleaf had to fall back.

Broadleaf retreated and looked back, spotting an armoured Hemicyon and unknowningly witnessing the arrival of the Xirkaali Empire to the plains of Estacarr.
