Tancred, also known as Tancred of Effisus, is a Lord Paladin in the 15th Cohort of the Order of the Sacred Ark.

About

Tancred is the son of Tristen of Effisus, a prominent politician in the Basilean Duma. Tancred was groomed for political power by his father from an early age; he was sent to the Order of the Sacred Ark with the intention of serving a brief but successful military career that would give him experience of command and credibility for a life in politics.

Tancred was promoted to Lord Paladin at the age of twenty five; a notable accomplishment but still one that both he and his father considered to be tardy and overdue. He became a household name in Basilea alongside Orion of Suda after their involvement in the expedition sent to the Mountains of Tarkis to apprehend the rogue Legion captain Dionne.

After the expedition's commander, Dictator-Prefect Hugh of Athelle, was killed by an assassin, Tancred took charge of the survivors to wage a war against Abyssal forces searching for a portal stone with which to mount an invasion of Basilea. Tancred commanded a small force at the Battle of Andro until Basilean reinforcements arrived to thwart the van of the Abyssal force. He was subsequently presented a laurel ring by the Hegemon himself, and given command of the 15th Cohort.
