Part 1

Khalef had hired a band of Ogres to investigate attacks on the Ophidian border. Khalef ordered Jareed, one of his bodyguards from Khopt-remun, to ask a local fisherman who was helping them how far it was to his fishing village that was recently attacked and they were told they should be there by evening.

As they approached, Khalef ordered one of the Ogres to go search the village for information on the attackers. Khalef, via Jareed, then pressed the fisherman for more information on the attackers. The fisherman told them they weren't pirates and that "they came from the desert".
