The Order of the Basilean Paladins are the holy orders within the Basilean Hegemony.
About
The Order of Basilean Paladins are mentioned in several different sources as being 'Orders' and 'Chapters' in organisation; Paladin orders work independently from the Duma. The first two paladin organisations to be formed were Orders, one of which was the Order of the Sacred Ark and the Order of the Golden Peak were formed by Oredorus the Pure.
Subsequently formed paladin organisations were called chapters, with the entire organisation being dubbed the Order of Basilean Paladins, yet still kept the naming convention of "Order". These chapters were estabished by Quantus the Devout. Over time some of these chapters split off into other factions such as the Brotherhood, however after the Edge of the Abyss the Order of the Brothermark were reintergrated back into the Basilean Paladins.
The most famous member of the order is Gnaeus Sallustis, who is the current leader of the Order of Paladins. Each order is led by their own High Paladin.
The Chapters within Order of the Green Lady continue to remain independent.
The Order of Basilean Paladins
First two paladin organisations to be formed were Orders, one of which was the Order of the Sacred Ark (mentioned in Steps to Deliverance) and the second being the Order of the Golden Peak (mentioned in Faith Aligned) were formed by Oredorus the Pure in Spartha.
The orders were both founded based of the following precepts:
- The First precept of the original Paladin Orders is to protect the innocent by the destruction of evil.
- The Second precept is they answer only to the Hegemon of Basilea. This gives the Hegemon the military power to oppose rebellion and instill order directly if required.
