Measuring
Tape measure is the norm, but for cleaner and quicker measuring, search for Measuring Sticks. Mantic have there own branded versions as well.
Dice
Well of course you need dice and lots of D6 dice with clear markings that both you and your opponent can see. Avoid symbol dice if you can, if you cannot only have symbol dice on one facing and make them the constant facing (is do not mix symbol 1s with symbol 6s).
Blank Movement bases
These are extremely handy for checking if your unit will fit, or marking out where it will move to, or marking where the unit is if they cannot get close to each other due to overhanging spikey bits.
Wound markers
Have a way of marking your units wounds, be it dials, tokens or dice. If using dice make sure they are very different to the dice you used for rolling.
State markers
Have a way of marking states, ie Waivered, Devastated, Weakened, Frozen, Bane Chanted, Hindered, Hexed etc
Kings of War rankings
Different countries and regions rank their events differently.
In the UK the rankings is done via https://www.kowmasters.com/, this is a repository for ranked and unranked Kings of War Events. Results are submitted and from this data the following can be gathered.
- Factions played
- Faction Leaderboard
- Overall Leaderboard
- Those in contention for the Masters playoff
Regardless of where or who is running the event, if it is an open invitational, then the event can be ranked.
A player's top four scores in the season count towards their overall score used for the Leaderboard. Faction Leaderboards are calculated with the top three scores for that faction.
The maximum number of points for an event is:
- (60 + [No. players]) * [Round Weight]
- [No. Players]: The number of players attending the event. This has a minimum of 10 and a cap of 40. Any event over 40 players counts as 40 for the ranking score.
- [Round Weight]: An event must have at least 3 games/rounds to be ranked. Any event with 3 games has a Round Weight modifier of 0.6, 4 games is 0.8 and for 5+ games the modifier is 1.0.
The winner of the event receives the maximum points. Other players receive a portion of these points based on their finishing position, determined lineraly.
Example
An event has 20 players and 4 rounds:
- (60 + [20]) * [0.8] = 64
The winning player at this event will have 64. Each placing after that will reduce the score received by 3.2, so the 2nd place will get 60.8 points, third place 57.6 and so on.
