The preconception of halflings as gentle, unconcerned folk, careless of the world around them, is mostly unfounded.
While they hark from an idyllic and bucolic homeland, they are acutely aware of the dangers that surround them and the threat of raids and marauding warbands of greenskins.
To this end, the shires have a conscription program, enforced by their recruitment sergeants, ensuring that they fulfil their obligations to the defence of the League.
