The Invasion Under the Ice Mountains is a conflict that began after Mhorgoth the Faceless returned after 200 years in hiding. Mhorgoth massed an undead legion upon the Free Dwarfs led by King Thorrick Rockfist.

Battle of Deep Chasm

King Thorrick Rockfist won the decisive Battle of Deep Chasm after fighting without rest for three days.
Battle of Ironhold Bridge

Mhorgoth had supplemented his power by uncovering the Blood stones in the deepening paths and at the moment when dwarven victory seemed secure, he enacted an aging spell upon the dwarf army, with only King Thorrick immune thanks to his enchanted crown of stone. The undead forces surged forwards against the now decrepit dwarven forces, and King Thorrick ordered hidden charges under the bridge to be detonated, plunging Mhorgoth's army into the fires below. Mhorgoth, suspended in the air by his sorcery, was enraged. Unable to attack Thorrick directly, he overwhelmed the minds of his personal bodyguards, and unable to conquer them all, Thorrick was thrown into the lava below, to his doom.
The conflict ended at the Battle of Ironhold Bridge after King Thorrick Rockfist ordered hidden charges under the bridge to be detonated, plunging Mhorgoth's army into the fires below. Mhorgoth then used his power to mind control Thorrick's bodyguards, killing him.
