Ophidia is unusual in that its armies comprise undead and living warriors marching side by side and ruled by seven God Kings

About

Labours of the dead raise the monumental buildings, who toil longer and harder than a hundred times as many slaves ever could.

Resting beneath three-sided pyramids of obsidian are the most noble and powerful rulers of the land, their bodies ritually prepared for their triumphant return.

The God Kings are believed to be divine, taking their place amongst the pantheon of Ophidia’s deities, until heeding the call to rule again, and lead their people to glory even in death. To the Ophidians, death is only the beginning, pointing out to others, that necromancy helps to keep their kingdom mighty.

The work of Ophidia’s scholars, however, has unleashed many unclean things upon the world, perhaps inadvertently. Both vampires and ghouls, for instance, are reckoned to be the products of the sorcerers of Ophidia who, in searching for elixirs to grant immortality, instead created monsters.

The Ophidians can draw upon a wide range of troops from across their empire; including desert-horsemen, fierce tribal warriors from the green south and all manner of light troops suited for their harsh land, supported by heavy infantry and horse drawn from the Ophidian cities. The Ophidians also enslave desert spirits to fight for them, and make use of legions of undead skeletons.

God-Kings of Ophidia

God-Kings of Ophidia information is scarce. Little is known about these enigmatic beings but rumour has it they are interred along with their warriors and servants, all of whom are mummified alive so that they might serve their lord in the afterlife.

About

When the Ahmunite empire started to consume itself, the living took refuge in Northern regions, settling in Hokh-man. The Princes who led the exodus were hailed as saviours and God Kings of the people. The young realm of the now Ophidia, was short of man power, and the God Kings decreed to use necromancy again so they could grow, but with a stark difference, the raising of the undead was for altruistic not selfish reasons.

Strict laws were established to control the learning and practice of the once dark art. The people became known as the Ophidians. The new nation soon became the masters of undeath, the God Kings seeing the madness that had befallen south to Ahmun, the spread from the south need to stop. Using the most trusted and powerful magi, the God Kings summoned spiteful and powerful demonic djinn's.

Together they unleashed a biblical plague upon Ahmunite, sandstorms and insects, reducing the Ahmun to stripped bone and driving them back into the wastes of the their broken crumbling cities, then scoured from the face of the world. Ophidia is unusual in that its armies comprise undead and living warriors marching side by side. Labours of the dead raise the monumental buildings, who toil longer and harder than a hundred times as many slaves ever could. Mightiest of all are the God-Kings. Little is known about these enigmatic beings but rumour has it they are interred along with their warriors and servants, all of whom are mummified alive so that they might serve their lord in the afterlife. The God-Kings are believed to be divine, taking their place amongst the pantheon of Ophidia’s deities, until heeding the call to rule again, and lead their people to glory even in death.

To the Ophidians, death is only the beginning, pointing out to others, that necromancy helps to keep their kingdom mighty. Are the God-Kings truly gods, or just powerful undead humans, only time will tell if or when they rise to rule again.
