Gur Panthers are deadly feline hunters that can be found roaming the forests of Gur in the province of Tarkis, whose borders are piously guarded by the sisterhood.
About
There is a strict limit on the number of juvenile cats that can be removed from the forest for taming so that this precious resource is never lost.
Raised and trained by dedicated handlers, a panther will grow to be almost as large as a horse. Panthers in training are directed to fight on the battlefield in packs, their tamers letting the animals give in to their hunting instincts.
Massive, tawny beasts native to the mountains of Tarkis in central Basilea, the semi-intelligent Gur Panthers are deadly hunters. They have been employed in warfare for millennia, but do not breed in captivity; a large part of Tarkis has been set aside as a wilderness where they may mate and hunt. To set foot in the Forest of Gur without permission is to die most horribly by water and flame.
Permission is granted infrequently, and then only to capture a strict quota of juvenile cats to train as mounts. Gur Panthers cannot stand the scent of men. They can be trained to tolerate their presence, but they will not allow themselves to be ridden by any but women… Except, of course, the holiest Paladin heroes who opt to forfeit their ability to bear children in exchange for the favour of the giant cats, so that they may become death incarnate upon the battlefield
