Hunting the Twilight Kin

During The God War, Mikayel was given the task of investigating recent crimes of elves, which were unknown at the time to be the Drenarchi, sneaking into the Elvenholme libararies and archives, specifically from the house of Valellion. Texts that were stolen were about the theories on the transition from one sphere of reality to another and what the traveller might expect to find when crossing into other dimensions.

Intially, Mikayel didn't have any success and the true nather of the Drenarchi remained undiscovered, however he did find many secret cabels who clung to the ancient rites of the Primogenitors and the occasional spy of the Wicked Ones. Over time, this would elevate Mikayel to the rank of Grand Inquisitor due to his success and ruthlessness.

Later on during The God War, Mikayel would be summoned by King Yarinathar after he was given news from Valandor the Great about a recent voidwalker raid led by the Twilight Kindred. Mikayel bore responsiblity in being unable to root out the Twilight Kin despite his success with the discovery of other secret groups. Humbled by the anger of King Yarinathar, Mikayal redoubled his efforts in hunting for the Twilight Kin.

Mikayal's inquisitor's searched the countryside while King Yarinathar raised a new army to help the Shining Ones in The God War. Mikayal was later informed of the existance of the Drenarchi (unknownly by one of Ba'el's spies) and captured several members of them. Under questioning, one of the Drenarchi exposed the existance of the Twilight Kin and the stronghold inside the Mouth of Leith. Mikayel quickly marshalled as much military as he could find and began an expedition towards the Mouth of Leith.

Mikayel and his forces ravaged the lands of the Twilight Kin for a month. They finally drove the remaining twilight elves to the summit of a massive ziggurat. There the Twilight Kin made a last stand, some of them throwing themself off of the giant ziggurat rather than be captured. The rage of the inquisitors did not end and they sought to pull the sinister structure apart stone by stone. After tearing down the summit and hundreds of feet down, their destruction abated and they returned to Therennia Adar. The hunt was ended, but little did Mikayel know that the majority of the Twilight Kin were hidden nearby in concealed caves.

Year 2649

The Fall of Mikayel

Around 2649, after the cataclysmic event Winter's Last Gift, Twilight Kin activity bloomed anew. Mikayel and his inquisitors were granted more powers and became even more brutal in their task of rooting out the renegades. However his efforts met little success, and even a return to the Mouth of Leith was fruitless. An unexpected breakthrough came when his wife confessed to him that she was a part of the Twilight Kin cult, and told him where to find the abducted children of the slain Elven King. Mikayel imprisoned his wife to deal with later, different feelings warring inside his mind. Then he and an elite group went to the Bloodshrine where the children were to be sacrificed. Even though they fought bravely against demonic hordes and Twiligth elves they were too late to stop the sacrifice, which allowed Ahmuk the Desecrator to manifest. Mikayel and Ahmuk dueled for many hours until Mikayel finally managed to destroy the demon by its own sword. Mikayel claimed the sword for his own, demons fleeing before him, while the rest of the Twilight Elves were slaughtered.

Upon returning to Elvenhome, the new regent Thominus Moonweaver intensified the hunt for the ones responsible for his predecessor's demise. Eventually it was discovered that Mikayel's wife, Eithyryll was part of it, and soldiers were sent to arrest her. Mikayel's inner conflict was resolved, and he chose his love over his nation. With the Sword of Umbra he defeated the soldiers, before trying to flee with his wife. They were discovered by Mikayel's lieutenant, Samirya, and while trying to break free, Eithyryll was killed and Mikayel captured. Mikayel was then interrogated and tortured with vigor by his former inquisitors. The hateful inquisitors became reckless in their work, and in the end Mikayel's bonds broke free. He killed the inquisitors in the room and escaped, but not before reclaiming the Sword of Umbra and murdering his former lieutenant.

Joining the Twilight Kin

Shadow Horizons

Landfall

La'theal Bleakheart stepped on the shore of the Iceblood Coast, she cast the Shadowheart gem into the sky. The Shadowheart glowed with light, giving off lightning and a mass of energy resulting in the opening of the great void-gate which La'theal stared in awe into.

One of her fellow captains was growing impatient as the force had not arrived however La'theal insisted they were coming with the delay due to the distance from the locus of the void-cage network. Her crew were stuck with nausea while they waited and were forced to move away from the open void-gate until it subsided. The hidden Twilight Kin finally began to arrive through the void-gate lead by Lord Faewyll.

Lord Mikayel was upset of the void-gate being opened so far away with the impatient captain insisting the cause being their warship being too badly damaged to make the journey there however Lord Mikayel quickly silenced him and signaled to Mor’ghul’eiza. Mor’ghul’eiza came forwarded and ended the captain's life. Lord Mikayel then turned to La'theal for an explaination. La'theral explained the recent events and pointed out that Lord Mikayel was still in the Winterlands as planned. Lord Mikayel stated that the original plan was for a eternal Void-bridge to be opened in Iceblood Fjord which would be a defensible site for a great planned fortress.

Lord Mikayel then reached into his dark violet cloak and produced a wrought metal scroll-cylinder. La'theal was to be banished into the void-gate and was to wait for "guests"to arrive. She was to tell them exactly what is written on that scroll. Reluctantly, she took the scroll and walked through the portal. Short while later, the void-portal closed.
